Psycho-technic testing, coupled with a strong preparatory-study year before admission to the College when needed, ensures that almost any student with high technical aptitude who wishes, can pursue a Shamoon engineering education.

February 22, 2007, New York ... The American Friends of Sami Shamoon College of Engineering in Beer Sheva has opened its first American office, at 5 West 36th Street in Manhattan. Douglas Stern, chairman of the board of America Friends of Shamoon remarked, "we are creating a high profile board of directors United States to raise $12 million by 2012." This will help finance Shamoon's 130% planned increase in student enrollment from 3,000 to 7,000, Stern explained.

Recruiting and Keeping the Brain Trust in Israel’s south - Shamoon recruits promising young adults from Israel's immigrant and blue-collar communities in the Negev desert and Israel’s south. Shamoon trains them to be superb engineers. The vast majority of them stay in the region after graduation. As a result, the College is a major force in strengthening the Negev's economy, through the training and retention of its brainpower.
Partnering with World Industry Leaders - So impressed with Shamoon, General Motors has invested in joint research with the College. Likewise, Ness Technologies, a leading global IT conglomerate, selected Shamoon as the ideal campus on which to build their new Ness Development Center, and involve Shamoon graduates to work closely with Ness executives on their ventures.
Among the founders of the College, for the past decade Dr. Haddad had served as vice president and chair of the College's Academic Council.
Dr. Haddad earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering as an ISEF Scholar at Ben-Gurion University. He is an authority on the environmental behavior of aerospace materials, and a consultant to several industries.
The College was named in honor of Sami Shamoon of London, an international member of the board of directors of the International Sephardic Education Fund (ISEF), and International Chairman of the College Board.
